Starcomms Appoints Justin Coetzee as Marketing Director

As part of efforts to boost the growth of its business in the highly competitive Nigerian telecoms market, Starcomms Plc, Nigeria’s leading CDMA operator has appointed Justin Coetzee, a versatile commercial telecoms professional as its new marketing director. He will be responsible for all the company’s marketing operations.

The company’s CEO, Logan Pather who announced the appointment last week said that the wealth of experience of Coetzee which he had garnered not only in top telecoms market in the world but also in other sectors and other markets, is very strategic for the growth of Starcomms, a Nigerian company that is poise to transform telecoms in Nigeria.

“We are proud to have him join the Starcomms family to take the company to higher heights with us,” Pather said. Coetzee is joining Starcomms Plc, directly from Shaka Mobile Corporation (USA) where he was Commercial Director and was responsible

for the overall commercial functions of the company. He was also a specialist distribution consultant with Onecell Holdings (Pty) Ltd., South Africa the leading airtime distributor and 3rd party virtual vending operator in that country.

He is bringing to Starcomms a wide range of experience from several emerging markets in Africa and the Middle East like South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, the Sultanate of Oman and the Seychelles where he had lived and worked in a number of telecommunications companies, including GSM and CDMA networks in the last ten years. He was also involved in the Startup of Glo Mobile in Nigeria.

Justin Coetzee holds Post Graduate qualifications in Strategic Management from the Graduate Institute of Management & Technology/Henley Business School (UK) and in Business Development from Rhodes University in South Africa. He has over 20 years work experience in a cross section of organizations, covering the telecommunication, property, FMCG and paper & packaging sectors in top management capacity.
 
Over the years, he has had quality exposure in Marketing Operations with a strong brand and product focus and a proven sales track record both in the formal market and the enterprise space and in optimizing both direct and indirect distribution channels.
